This involvement within the Danish bus market led to the acquisition of Bus Danmark (now Arriva Danmark) in 1999 and its wholly owned subsidiary Odakra Buss based in southern Sweden. In April 2000, Arriva Danmark acquired the former state owned Company, COMBUS. Part of the company was sold on to Connex but Arriva kept the majority of its regional and provincial bus operations throughout Denmark. Arriva Danmark operates a fleet of approximately 1150 buses, including demand responsive vehicles, and 43 train sets. During 2001 the first double-deck buses for the Danish fleet were delivered and these are included in the 2002 listings.
