In December 1997, together with the name change, the Group introduced a UK-wide corporate livery to identify their new high-specification buses. Throughout the country, except London, all FirstGroup?s high quality vehicles look the same, making the premium product easily identifiable to passengers. The livery of these new vehicles in a base colour of light grey with magenta and dark blue livery lines. Branded First, local branding is applied behind the entrance door and below the driver?s cab window. Other vehicle liveries were adapted to carry the new First branding on the existing colours. FirstGroup aims to be at the forefront of the industry in its commitment to the environment. In January 1996, the company launched the UK?s first purpose-built Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bus and this is currently in service with City Line in Bristol in a special livery of silver and grey and a further batch of six CNG buses entered service in Northampton during 1997.
