Quick Overview

In 2001 the bus operations at four depots in East Lancashire were sold to Blazefield Holdings (which, itself, subsequently sold out to Transdev), while contract gains in London had taken the share of TfL routes to 16%.
Most new vehicle deliveries for 2001 and 2002 were destined for the London operations, where there was political pressure to introduce low-floor vehicles, displacing mid-life vehicles to the provinces. In 2001 notable orders included Optare Solo minibuses for Midland Red and Lancashire and Excel midibuses for East Midlands.
